Hiking

The Georgetown area has a wide variety of outdoor activities available! Hikers will want to explore the Notch Trail from Georgetown to Silver Plume. The trail is 2.4 miles of moderate to strenuous hiking with beautiful scenery.

Endless hiking opportunities exist off the Guanella Pass Scenic Byway such as a moderate hike to Silver Dollar lake or a longer walk up the old Argentine-Central railroad grade to Waldorf or beyond to the top of Mt. McClellan to view Mountain Goats and Grays & Torreys peaks.

Great mountain biking can be had climbing from Georgetown up Saxon Mountain road located just east of the Georgetown Lake. One can bike old mining roads all the way down to Idaho Springs!

For a more leisurely ride, try the service road from Georgetown to Idaho Springs and return.
